VERTICAL SHADOWS DANCE COMPANY
Here you can view contemporary ballet works created, directed and choreographed by Stephen Agisilaou under his renowned company Vertical Shadows. As a contemporary theatre director Stephen works closely with his performers to create intimate moments that continue to resonate with the audience way after the curtain falls.
The work plays with the idea of stability within relationships, working through that concept in relation to the choreography has allowed for a diverse repertoire of movement. Relationships are fragile, we are constantly involved in them and they require the ability to learn, grow and change as time goes by. Our relationships can be weathered by our decisions and the point of no return is not often in our foresight until it's to late.
Artistic Director Stephen Agisilaou created two new works for PROJECTion Dance 2016 Ballet Gala, January 24th at Federation Square Deakin Edge Theatre. HER was an exploration of strength and struggle from a woman's perspective.

As we worked with theatrical ideas through contemporary dance, we paradoxically found both restraint and ease in the choreography without venturing over to the contemporary cliché of minimalism.
